Step through a hidden forest doorway and discover costumes that turn an ordinary day into a magical adventure.

Imagine yourself walking along a sidewalk. It's an ordinary day wherever you live, but as you walk, you see a strange glowing coming from the side of the sidewalk. You look towards it, and you see a path that you've never seen before. A path that seems to lead into the forest. A forest you didn't even know was there.

But something about it seems very inviting, very peaceful, and very, very safe. So you decide to follow the path.

The path is lit by little pumpkins on either side, each one carved into one of your favorite pictures. As you walk along the path, it winds left and right, and you see leaves falling from the trees, each one a different color. Eventually, you walk out into an opening, and inside the opening is a gigantic and old-looking tree.

As you approach the tree, you see that it actually has a door in the center of it. You walk up to the door, and you knock a few times. No one answers, so you knock again. And as you do, the door squeaks open. You peek inside, and you don't see that anyone's there, but it is lit inside for some reason.

You step into the tree, and you see that you're surrounded on all sides by a closet full of clothing. Wait a second. This isn't clothing. These are costumes. Beautiful, amazing costumes of every shape and every size.

You begin looking through the racks of costumes, and you come across one that looks like wizard robes. You pull them off the hanger and hold them up in front of you. They look kind of familiar, almost like something you might have read in a book or seen in a movie.

Huh. You hang the hanger back up, and you put your arm inside the wizard's robe, swing it around your back, and put your other arm in. You button it up at the front, and then you realize there's something in the pocket. A wand.

You pick up the wand and hold it in your hand, and suddenly a surge of power passes through your body. You get a strange chill that runs up your spine, and you can feel something else. Something that feels like another sense. But instead of allowing you to feel like an arm or a leg, you can suddenly feel a mystical energy that runs between all things.

And you find that, just like you can bend an arm or leg, you seem to be able to change the direction of this energy. You seem to be able to make contact with things and change their very reality. This must be what magic is like.

You walk back outside of the tree, and you look around the forest. You lift your wand up in the air. You focus on a stump in the distance, and you imagine the stump turning into a deer. Power surges through your wand, and you whip it towards the log.

A huge, bright light shoots from your wand to your log, connecting that unforeseen energy that you're able to feel and manipulate in the air. The energy soars through the log and changes the log's shape. The log stretches out, grows four little legs and a little fluffy tail, and stands up and looks at you. A wooden deer.

The deer begins to run around in circles and then runs off into the forest. Amazing.

You begin walking through the forest, and with each leaf you see, you wave your magic wand and turn it into a butterfly, or a fairy, or a bird, until magical creatures made of leaves and twigs are flying all around you in every direction. You use your powers to create swirls of colors moving all around your body, through the air, and up into a magical dome.

You look up at the sky, and you wonder about the stars. But you can't see them right now because it's light out. And then you have an idea. You force the magic sphere of colors straight up into the air until it explodes in an amazing show of light and fireworks. But as the fireworks disappear, you see only a dark sky. A dark sky dotted with bright stars in every direction.

And as you allow your focus to wander, the light appears again, and you're standing in the forest in daytime once again.

“This is a pretty cool costume,” you think.

But then you start to wonder that if this costume gives you these powers, another costume might give you other powers too. You head back to the tree, you open the door, and walk inside. You find the curtain where the magician's costume, or wizarding costume, or whatever it was, was hanging. You hang the wizard's costume back up, and you begin to look around the room once again.

Soon, you come across a red and blue costume that looks a lot like one of your favorite video game characters.

“Cool. Well, this probably doesn't work like the other one,” you think.

But you decide to try it on anyways. You step into the costume and pull it up over top of your body. There's a zipper at the back that you pull up with a little string, and then there's a beautiful red hat that you put on top. As soon as you put the hat on your head, a strange power surges through your body. You suddenly feel like you can jump amazingly high into the air.

You have to test it out. You head back outside, and as soon as you're in an area where you can jump really, really high, you bend your legs, and you jump up into the air. There's a strange electronic sound as you jump up, but you fly higher than you could have expected, up above the trees, and you gracefully land back down. It's almost as if the costume changes the speed of gravity or something.

You begin bouncing all over the forest. You bounce up into the trees and jump from branch to branch, from leaf to leaf, until you come across a strange box that's floating in the air.

“What could this box be?” you think.

You jump up as high as you can towards the box, and you punch it with one of your fists. As you punch it, the box breaks into a whole bunch of pieces, and a little feather is floating in the middle of it. You grab the feather, and a strange power passes through your body once again.

Suddenly, you feel something on your back. Something that you can move just like it's an arm or a leg. You look back, and you see two huge wings.

“Whoa!”

You begin to flap the wings, and you fly high up in the air, floating high above the world. You gently glide over the forest. You see a bird, and you begin to join it, flying left and right and just learning from the bird. Watching as it rides the currents of air, you do the same.

Then something catches your attention on the ground below you. A glowing flower of some kind. You fly down towards the flower and land in a field. The flower is a bright blue color, and it seems to be giving off a cold feeling. You reach out and touch the flower, and as you do, your body glows and feels a surge of power once again.

You reach your hand out, and suddenly a little ball of ice shoots out and hits the tree in front of you, encasing it in ice. The trees around you begin to shake, and then out of them walk little tiny creatures that seem to be made of leaves. One of the creatures jumps up in the air, straight towards you, and instinctively, you shoot it with an ice ball.

“Ten points,” a voice says.

“What? Ten points?”

All of the other leaf creatures begin to bounce towards you and jump up in the air, so you figure your job is to freeze them. One by one, as they jump, you shoot little balls of ice into the air, catching each one, turning it to ice. And with each one, you get ten more points. Cool.

“Calculating points,” another voice says.

Suddenly, little coins appear in the air above you, and then they gently float down into your hands. You're holding a hundred gold coins. Cool.

You place the gold coins in your pocket, and you decide it might be time to go try on another costume. You bounce back up into the trees and up into the air, spreading your wings and gliding back to the magic tree where you found the costume in the first place.

You land outside the tree and head back in. You unzip the suit and take off the hat, and the power seems to drop away as well. You hang the suit back up, and you begin to look around the room for something else.

You come across a bright blue suit with a picture of a lightning bolt on it. You take the suit off, and you believe you recognize this as well. It's another one of your favorite gaming characters, one that can move incredibly fast.

You quickly step into the suit, zip it up behind you, and you feel a surge of power pass through your body. But this time, the power makes you want to move really fast. It makes you want to do everything really fast. You jump towards the door, and you're there in an instant. When you think about stepping into the little space in front of you, you're just there instantly as well. Cool.

You line up down a trail, and you think about running really, really quickly. And all around you is a swirl of air spinning towards the direction you want to go, shooting leaves up behind you until you release the energy, and you begin running through the forest as fast as you can possibly imagine.

Luckily, when you need it to, your thoughts seem to slow everything down. And it's as if everything else is in slow motion as you run by it quickly. The birds and leaves and deer just seem frozen in the air as you pass at amazing speed, zooming around trees and over logs, until you come to a stream.

As you look at the stream, the water looks more like ice than water. You have a strange feeling that you'll be able to run directly onto it. So you do, and you find that the water doesn't give way like it probably should. It's a little bit bouncier than the ground, but just as solid.

You begin running up the stream, and you watch as water splashes up behind you. But again, the water seems as solid as anything else. Soon, you move so far up the stream that you come to a waterfall. The little dripping pieces of water look like stones that you can jump onto, and you begin jumping left and right off each of the pieces of water, straight up the waterfall.

You land at the top, run over to the side, and you suddenly stop running. Everything resumes its normal speed once again. The birds are flying like they used to, and the deer are running, and the leaves are falling, and you can feel the wind against your hair.

“Whoa. Super speed. Cool,” you say.

You power up the speed once again, and you run down the waterfall, back down the stream, and through the forest. As you see the tree in front of you, you come to a sudden stop. You open the door and walk inside. You hear your watch beeping.

“Oh, no. It's time I'm supposed to be home,” you realize.

You quickly take off the special suit and hang it back up in the tree. Then you step out of the tree, back into the forest, and close the door behind you.

“Maybe I'll come back another time,” you say to yourself.

You run back down the forest path, but this time at a normal speed, without any special powers. You head back down the sidewalk, and then you take whatever other series of steps you need to to get back to your house. You open the door to your home, walk inside, and head straight for your bedroom. You're exhausted from using all of those different powers.

You wave hi to your adults on the way by, and you go to lay down in your bed. You pull back the covers, slide onto the mattress, and you pull the covers up to your chin. Your eyelids are feeling heavy, so you just let them close.

You begin to take long, slow, deep breaths, and with each out-breath, you let your muscles relax a little bit. You sink down deeper and deeper into the mattress, and you allow your mind to wander away to new things and dreams of new adventures to come.
